THE CHIROPRACTIC STORY In 1895 a man named D.D. Palmer gave a spinal adjustment to a janitor named Harvey Lilard who was hard of hearing. After the adjustment Harvy Lilard's hearing returned and chiropractic was born. It is commonly thought that chiropractors are doctors whose purpose is to "treat" back and neck pain. It is true that patients with these types of complaints do favorably respond to chiropractic care, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Thechnologies such as the surface EMG and thermal scans can help the doctor to detect subluxations (interuptions in the nervous system), which may or may not be causing discomfort or pain. If left untreated these subluxations can have a devastating effect on health. Most modern and educated health providers realize that pain is a very poor indicator as to whether or not a person is healthy. This is why regular chiropractic adjustments are an important part of a healthy lifestyle, regardless of how good one might feel. |
